About Lailokens Awen : Handcrafted Spell Candles, Incense, and Anointing Oils
Welcome to Lailokens Awen
Lailokens Awen is a Canadian small business creating handcrafted ritual candles, incense, and anointing oils. Every product is made in small batches by me, Shawn, utilizing my decades of experience in herbalism, clinical aromatherapy, Druidry, and the Western Mystery Tradition.
Lailokens Awen was founded on a simple belief: ritual tools should be created with the same care, intention, and reverence with which they are ultimately used. Every candle, incense blend, and anointing oil is handcrafted in ritual space by me, one small batch at a time, with careful attention not only to the quality of the ingredients, but also to the energetic principles that have guided ritual practice for centuries.
My name is Shawn C. Hebert, founder and formulator of Lailokens Awen. I have been a practicing Druid Hermeticist for more than thirty years, a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids (OBOD), and a practitioner of the Golden Dawn tradition of magic. Professionally, I am a Clinical Aromatherapist and Herbalist, and those two worlds—traditional herbal knowledge and Western esoteric practice—have naturally merged into everything I create.
What began in 2014 with just twelve loose incense blends available through Etsy and a small local shop has grown into a collection of more than 150 handcrafted ritual products distributed across multiple countries. And with 100 000 products sold, despite that growth, one thing has never changed: every formulation is still personally crafted, blended, poured, bottled, labeled, and packaged by hand in my ritual workspace.
Every product begins long before ingredients are measured. It begins with research. Many of my formulations represent years—even decades—of study into traditional magical correspondences, historical grimoires, herbalism, aromatherapy, planetary magic, and ceremonial practice. Some blends have remained virtually unchanged for over twenty years because experience has shown them to be balanced, dependable, and effective. Others are faithful recreations of historical formulas drawn from medieval and Renaissance magical texts, respectfully adapted where necessary using modern botanical knowledge and ingredient availability.
Unlike mass-produced spiritual products that rely heavily on synthetic fragrance oils, every formulation is designed around natural materials whenever possible. I work extensively with pure essential oils, botanical resins, herbs, woods, roots, spices, floral materials, and natural waxes selected for both their aromatic qualities and their traditional energetic correspondences.
As a Clinical Aromatherapist, I understand that essential oils are far more than pleasant scents. Each botanical possesses a unique chemical profile as well as a long history of symbolic, medicinal, and ritual use. My formulations seek to honour both traditions, combining the science of aromatherapy with centuries of magical practice to create products that feel authentic in both composition and intention.
The quality of a ritual product is determined not only by what goes into it, but also by how it is made.
For that reason, every product is created in deliberately small batches. Small-batch production allows me to maintain complete control over every stage of the process—from measuring ingredients and blending essential oils to pouring candles, preparing incense, bottling oils, and inspecting each finished item before it reaches your hands. Nothing is rushed, automated, or outsourced.
Working in small batches also ensures freshness. Essential oils, botanical materials, and natural resins are at their best when they are not sitting for months or years. By creating products in limited quantities, I can maintain the integrity of the materials and preserve the vibrant character of each blend.
Perhaps what distinguishes Lailokens Awen most is the way every product is made within a ritual framework.
For centuries, practitioners of astrology, ceremonial magic, and traditional folk magic have recognized that time itself possesses qualities. Certain days are associated with specific planetary forces. Individual hours throughout each day carry their own planetary correspondences. Lunar phases, seasonal cycles, and solar festivals have likewise been considered important influences in magical practice.
Rather than treating these ideas as historical curiosities, I incorporate them directly into my creative process.
My products are crafted during the planetary day and hour that correspond with the intention of the formula. A prosperity blend is created during the hour of Jupiter. A love formulation during the hour of Venus. Protection blends are prepared under the influence of Mars.
This approach requires patience.
It often means waiting days for the appropriate astrological timing before beginning a production run. It means organizing my time around cycles that most modern manufacturing would consider impractical.
For me, however, this timing is not an inconvenience.
It is part of the craft.
The intention behind every formulation begins the moment the first ingredient is measured. The ritual process continues throughout blending, pouring, and packaging. Every stage is approached deliberately and with respect for the traditions from which these practices originate.
This philosophy extends equally across my entire collection, whether I am creating loose incense, scented spell candles, anointing oils, or seasonal offerings. Each product receives the same level of care.
Lailokens Awen also reflects my belief that knowledge matters. Over the years I have devoted thousands of hours to studying herbalism, aromatherapy, ceremonial magic, historical grimoires, planetary correspondences, mythology, and traditional ritual practice. My goal has never been simply to make products—it has been to understand why particular herbs, oils, colours, resins, and symbols became associated with specific intentions throughout history.
That ongoing study informs every formulation I create.
Whether a blend is inspired by historical magical texts, classical planetary magic, traditional European herbal lore, or my own decades of practical experience, each product is developed with careful consideration rather than guesswork or marketing trends.
Ultimately, Lailokens Awen exists to create ritual items that are as thoughtfully made as your rituals you include them in.
When you choose one of my products, you are not purchasing something that has rolled off an assembly line or been manufactured anonymously in bulk. You are receiving something crafted by me, who has devoted decades to studying herbalism, aromatherapy, and the Western Mystery Tradition; something made by hand in small batches; something created using carefully selected natural ingredients; and something prepared with patience, intention, and respect for the rhythms of nature and the traditional correspondences of ritual practice.
Whether you are lighting a candle for meditation, burning incense during a ceremony, anointing ritual tools, marking the turning of the seasons, or simply creating a sacred atmosphere within your home, it is my hope that these handcrafted creations become meaningful companions on your own spiritual path.
Thank you for allowing my work to become part of your practice.
Blessings,
Shawn C. Hebert
